RENDEZVOUS
He met her in a bookstore. Laci liked science
fiction. He preferred horror. Tonight they'd celebrate their first anniversary.
She'd tell him she was pregnant. He'd tell her of the job offer that would
rescue them from poverty.
Dinner at their favorite Paris Café with so
many things to celebrate, Jacques felt as though they had the world at their
feet.
An hour before their rendezvous, terrorists
attacked.
Two days later, they walked in silence down the
sidewalk on the Boulevard Voltaire.
He held her close. She wiped away tears. The
sound of angels weeping still echoed through the streets.

Hi, Rene,
How appropriate.... Such a sad, sad, situation...But they were spared.
Loved this story and so glad they were spared but sad for those that weren't.
C - I can't see anything that would improve this post. I liked the short sentences in the first paragraph. The staccato effect gave it immediacy and built up a good tension.
Very good. You've built their characters beautifully. I'm glad they escaped, but so sad for all the others who didn't, and I suspect the angels will be weeping for some time to come.
So well done. You provoked a lot of emotion in that short piece.
Glad they made it out, but many didn't, sad indeed
Very glad they made it.
This was very timely and such a good story, I can't get my mind off the Paris attacks either, and won't for a while. C - I really like how you build up sympathy and tension, I was sure they would be victims, and am very glad that they aren't. This was a twist different from the usual dark and surprising twists we so often read. A happy ending is what we need right now.
Thank you for the happy ending, even if it was achingly bittersweet. (I KNEW you had it in you!)
Have a fantabulous weekend!
Oh, Yolanda, I heart you. You are the best! Christopher thinks he must be famous. *wink*
I love your FF. You and Michelle and Denise are the crowned queens of FF. I crowned you guys. Didn't you know? ;-) And as to the happy ending, I believe the world aches for that. So see? You just made the world's heart smile. XOXO
Nice story about these young lovers. I am glad they survived. Happy Thanksgiving.
Heartbreaking story—fabulous flash. Captures the moment, the backstory, the joy, the angst... Great job. And I love the illustration of the children's stories collection! The angel is brilliantly rendered. Much success with it to Robin!

Thanks Guilie,
This one was special, finding a happy ending after such tragedy was hard, but important.
I hope Robyn nothing but success for her book, so sweet the meaning behind it all!
Thank you Irene, I'll be over to read your blog too, and make connection via the other sites, although I don't do Instagram.
Thanks, Deborah, Happy Thanksgiving, to you and yours!
Hi Robyn, Christopher is famous. ;)
I'm not sure I can accept the crown, but I do love the genre. Making the world smile would be amazing! :)
Hi Susan, and not only for you. I needed one too! :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
I agree Ga H, totally. Maybe I'll keep writing them. :)
Hi Michael, too sad, but so am I. I needed them to survive.
Thanks Irene, I appreciate the C!
This one was special.
Hi Mick,
Sadly politicians do - do as they please, no matter what the public wants. If they cared about humanity - they'd do something besides line their pockets on the back of the poor. Oh dear, don't get me started. :)
I agree margirene, for a long time to come especially with the unholy voices in the news today!
Thanks, Christine.
Thanks, Pat.
Thanks, me too, Alex.
Nice illustration of how ordinary people, with hopes and dreams and desires just like us were so affected by the dreadful events in Paris. You packed a lot in here but did it very well.
Captures the moment perfectly. No doubt that's exactly what happened to some in Paris on Friday 13th. All the best for Robyn's success for her book!! So exciting!
Thanks Alistair, we were all affected, even here across the pond. No matter what our stupid politicians claim!
Hi Denise:
Yes, mush success to Robyn!
For a second, I thought this poor couple would be among the victims in your story, Yolanda. I'm glad they escaped that fate. This horror is still weighing on all of us. You've captured the mood so well!
May your friend's book be a huge success!
Dear Yolanda Renee,
I'm so glad they were spared. Still a sobering event for the entire world.
Shalom,
Rochelle
What a horrid celebration memory.
A terrible event, followed by more terror in Brussels. Hard to be so far away when friends and relatives were so close by...
Great flash fiction piece, Yolanda!
