TUCKED AWAY
I danced through the snowflakes like the ballerina from my favorite ballet, Swan Lake. I've always loved winter especially how it tasted on my tongue, frosty, light, and clean. I looked around. Snow, brilliant white, and fresh surrounded me. The trees sparkled as though doused in diamond glitter. The lake while almost frozen solid showed bits of blue swirl as though just created with a painter's brush.
I couldn't remember where I was, how I'd gotten here, and then a voice pierced the atmosphere.
"Your daughter and all our cryogenic residents are safely tucked away until science catches up."

I like how you fooled the reader into thinking we were really in the winter scene just like the narrator. Nice take on the picture.

Wow, what an idea! Imagine if all the cryogenically frozen actually maintained cognizance and could hear everything but had to live in their own head/dreams/nightmares for hundreds of years. Great flash, Yolanda!
I love how your mind works. You came up with an interesting take on that picture.
I prefer more moderate temperatures, so I don't think I wanta be frozen. If anyone wants to "cure" me after I'm gone, they're gonna have to bring me back from the ashes. Um,okay. Not exactly moderate there, either...

I love this. The winter scene is beautiful, the twist surprising, and a bit scary. I think it would be great if drifting into cryogenic sleep (which might still be an option for long-distance space flight if it ever works reliably) could give you such lovely images to dream about.

After having read a few of your flash fictions, I think you've got a little theme going on with these twist ending :P Very good, as always. I love the descriptions of the snow and ice :)

Great contrast between her imaginings, and the reality of her situation. And what a horrifying idea that cryogenically frozen bodies might still be conscious.
Wow that ending was a surprise. Scary thought that cryogenically frozen people could be awake.
Science will probably surpass it and they'll find a more efficient way to preserve specimens. Hell, I can't even listen to my 8 track tapes anymore.
