Vampire
A vampire's hunger
is gnawing and
deep
are you ready
to grasp
a life undead
immortal you'd
be
not of this
coil
but dead and
cold
decaying
inside
as you hunger and crave,
the warmth of life's blood
from an
innocent babe
someone you
love,
take all you
want
get death in
return
your life
you've forfeit,
for the mantle of doom.
So which would you choose?
This trick or this treat
on this most
dark and deadly
Halloween fête?

What a question.
ReplyDeleteEternal life (or unlife) has no appeal for me, but...
Nope, not for me either! Hi, Sue!
DeleteI don't want eternal life either. Great poem for October!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie. I tried to do something special for Halloween.
DeleteWho wants to live forever like that?
ReplyDeleteDon't know a soul who would!
DeleteAh. Love that book. If we all lived forever, the dear old planet would be in big trouble!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it, especially if were filled with only the dead. Eventually they'd run out of the living!
DeleteVampires creep me out. You know their breath is probably awful. That's so not sexy.
ReplyDeleteAnd the BO, OMG. Can't imagine! :)
