I Won with Murder by Proxy now Murder on Mount Fairweather

A typical trip to Seattle turns into a nightmare for Sarah and Steven. He's all the way across the country when he gets the news that her hijacked plane has gone down in the mountains west of Juneau. 

An Airforce Jet can't get him home soon enough. 

But despite his best efforts, the weather has the mountain socked in, and it's isn't letting up. Can he get to the top of Mt. Fairweather in time to save his pregnant wife from the horrors of the Alaskan triangle? 

Will, the man who's the cause of their misery escape justice?

Excerpt:

Murder by Proxy

At Merrill Field, Elliott made sure Sarah was safely on board. Then he sat in his vehicle to watch the plane take off. He admired the sleek new look of the Challenger 650. The top-of-the-line jet that Sarah had recently purchased. He looked forward to watching the take-off.

Instead, he was shocked when, just seconds later, bullets began flying. He ducked even though they weren't pointed in his direction.

Elliott witnessed a prisoner, Alex James, the Clean Killer, just recently sentenced to ten life sentences, board Sarah's plane in a hail of bullets. He saw the door close and the plane taxi for take-off as the officers continued shooting while trying to catch a plane that quickly took flight.

Elliott was in shock.

Alex James, though, had made his escape.

I Did it!

I WON!

This year I had two projects to complete.

A Passion for Murder had approximately 20,000 words already completed. And a newer project, a suspenseful romance set in Myrtle Beach, I had about the same,

 just under 20,000 words.

Neither was close to being done. 

For some reason, this year,

I struggled to accomplish all I set out to do.

But with NANO, I had one final chance.

And

I finished the first draft of 

both stories during this challenge. 

Adding about 30,000 words to each.

The only way to do it was to just hunker down and commit to the writing. 

I ignored all else. 

But with the support of hubby

who did most of the cooking, it worked!

 I was determined to write daily. 

And I did.

I'm thrilled with the results.

Yay me! :)

As I write I’m surrounded by books. I have a comfortable chair, the view or at the least the sound of the waves, a bottle of water, my laptop of course, and my cell phone.

An Update

This year I took the challenge offered by the National Novel Writing Month with the hope of finishing the 5^th book in the Detective Quaid Series, MURDER, JUST BECAUSE. I did it, with time to spare, but when I reached 50,000, I was burned out. I had to walk away for a few days. 

Thank goodness I finished right before Thanksgiving, so what better way to recoup than to concentrate on the holiday, family, and shopping. There's still, a long road ahead, but thanks to NANO I'm a lot closer than I was. 

The next step is to begin editing. Chapter by Chapter until the 2nd draft is complete.

I've begun that process this month. At first, because of the burnout, I didn't think I would, but now I'm proceeding. Ready, willing, and able to turn all these words into a book.

IWSG - WHERE'S DINNER?

Time for the meeting of the

Insecure Writers with Alex J. Cavanaugh. 

His awesome co-hosts are Stephen Tremp, Karen Walker, Denise Covey, and Tyrean Martinson! 

     Insecurity is a constant thing, something I can banish to the background temporarily, but never really get rid of. I think, and I'm guessing here, that most writers/creative people feel that way. If you don't, then you aren't reading this post because you'd see no reason to belong to the IWSG. J

     Yet, despite all my insecurities, I'm still participating in the NaNoWriMo. This is my fifth time and regardless of a win or not, I've actually felt like a winner each time I've participated. The opportunity to write and have an entire communities support is priceless. In the real world, it's a very different story.

     I love it – you say you're doing NaNo and the world allows you to skip out on other responsibilities, at least the online world does. In the real world, say you're doing NaNo and they look at you as if you've lost your mind.

In my house, it goes something like this:

"What's a NaNo?" Even though it's my 5th year, the same question.

"You're going to write, you do that every damn day now. Husband's snide smile follows.

"Hey Mom, where's dinner?" 30 days out of the 30.

"Mom, all my shirts are dirty." Laundry, it may get done (this I don't promise) but it won't be put away. Notice the living room chair it is now a mountain of stacked clean, folded clothes.

"Mom, where are the spoons?" Dishes stacked up in the sink. Silverware disappears first even though they see the mess in the sink, they all ignore it.

"Pizza, again. I love NaNo!" says a grateful son. Dinner I don't have to cook and they appreciate.

"If you cook Thanksgiving dinner, we'll do the shopping." 

Who can pass up a request like that? I try to have NaNo finished before this, but it's not always possible. Besides, if you stick to the rule of not going back and doing any editing, this is the best time to do that – as long as you've reached the 50,000 that is.

My Goal is:

November 30^th – Book 4 – DARK MOTIVES is complete, well, the first draft is.

Sometimes Dark Motives arise from the best of intentions.

I'm looking forward to this celebration!
