DEADLINES
Sipping tea,
Angela stared out at the dark blue sky. The lights of the city flickered in the
distance. Not stars. There were never any stars. Oh, how she longed for the
country and the true night sky with the Milky Way trailing a path through the
cosmos. Inspiring romance and adventure.
Or did she desire
the cloudy night that created a blackness so thick it penetrated the soul? Encouraging
evil. Inviting terror. Warping the mind and inciting hellish nightmares.
She smiled, shook
off the melancholy, and finished her tea. Dawn was an hour away, and her
deadline was noon.

Grinning. And I refuse to grow up.
Does Angela, love a quiet night in or else like to be scared?
I get the feeling she is writing a novel with a deadline - unsure which road she should take it down, even if it isn't I still like it as I can pretend it is me 😄
Welcome to Friday Fictioneers
I don't blame you! LOL
She is and she will!
Both! :)
Nice to easily shrug off those meanderings and get down to business. Hope she makes the deadline.
Great ending! I was going along thinking ooh that took a dark turn and the comes the twist! Nicely done.
One of the hazards of being creative people is that our minds are always looking for the next inspiration, adventure, information... Deadlines have a way of forcing our focus.
i didn't look promising, but she was in this situation before. she'd beat the deadline for sure. :)
Or did she desire the cloudy night that created a blackness so thick it penetrated the soul? — Loved this line.
Dear Yolanda,
Oh those pesky deadlines. Welcome back.
Shalom,
Rochelle
