POWER
Walking toward the plane meant freedom was just moments away. My shoulders felt lighter. Mr. Trump held no power over me. I'd won.
An agreement I'd made to fund my college education had turned into a nightmare. The man behind it decided he wanted me for his own. He even offered marriage. The gall of the man, apparently no one turns down his cash, the disgusting old coot!
Nevertheless, I'd refused, fulfilled my obligation, and in moments, I'd be taking flight to Australia. A new opportunity.
*****
An explosion of undetermined origin destroyed flight 11-08-16. Passengers and crew perished.

Oh boy! You've done it again with such great writing in a short space. Hopefully I'll be back soon, nearly shaken off this virus/bug thing.
Some people never forget a knock-back... Nicely done.
Guess there's no escaping the Trump.
Oh, this is so sad, almost free, and then this. I don't understand enough about the background to know if this is based on a true story.
The rich old farts sure don't like to give up power
What a sad story!
Ouch. I guess the rich guy really didn't want to give her up . . . but ultimately, she was free of him in a way.
Yolanda, you might only be giving Trump more power. I had to laugh as Bernie Sanders was complaining Trump had like 90 hours of face time on CNN and he had 19 minutes. Trump understands old fashioned politics. It's all about face time. If people stopped talking about him, he'd go away.
Nicely done, as usual! :)
Another good one. I wish Trump would go away and I am not even American.
I hope this story is not prophetic, Yolanda. Imagine a world with Trump as its most powerful person. Everybody will head to Australia where our politicians are weirdly weird, but a long way to go to trump Trump. Oh, and did I day, great story and a slam dunk ending. :-)
I know Denise, I'd be on the first plane out! My son jokes that Canada is talking about erecting a fence to keep all of us out if it does happen. Heaven forbid!
We all do Jo, he's truly a very scary man. I dread the next 10 months!
Thanks Lara, I appreciate your kind words!
Hi Stephen,
Gosh I hope not, that'd be dreadful. But I heard too that he wasn't running TV ads because he's always in the news and doesn't have to. Although, I think that's changed. I don't watch TV anymore, Netflix and Hulu keep all that trash out, thank God!
Yes, sadly, but they do think they rule the world. I guess, in a way they do!
Hi Sally, thanks, we miss you. Feel better soon!
Hi Sandra, some don't. Thanks!
Not today, Alex.
But I hope soon!
Hi gahlearner,
No it's all fiction. Just a play on today's politics!
No they don't - dirty old buggers!
Hi Jennie, it is isn't it. Thanks for reading and commenting!
The things some people will do for money. Ugh.
Let's see. A choice between dying or being relegated to being one of Trump's belongings? I'd say the poor gal's better off...
Great job, as always. Happy weekend!
Apparently nobody turns down his proposals either... great story!
Some say the person who holds the purse strings also holds the power....but this girl breaks that cycle. Good for her! Difficult ending though.....such price for freedom - but perhaps it was "her time" no matter the decision? So she lived, true to herself.
A rhetorical analysis of Trump belies the fact that the man knows how to rile up folks...us-them talk, generalizations, refusing to talk in euphemisms. It is definitely "politics as usual" time. What's the saying, any press is good press.......as in capture the airwaves. He's definitely done that.
The plane explosion must have been due to terrorism. That is the future we have to fear, though I'm not going to get overly worked up about it. Whatever happens happens.

Tossing It Out
Dear Yolanda Renee,
That was a tragic twist of events. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I've already signed up for Lost & Found and plan on signing up for WEP whenever that rolls around!
So is this Trump Trump? Because I can see him doing that, ha! :(
Ha! A political statement and fiction. Very nice.
Haha! I loved the use of Mr. Trump and I have to ask the same question as Madilyn...Trump Trump? I think so... ;)

The things some people do with money. Hi Elizabeth!
Hi Susan, yes, I agree!
Had a great weekend!
Hi Alistair :)!
Yes, he certainly has!
No time for fear, I'm writing. Hi Arlee!
Thanks, Rochelle!
This is a character named Trump, who just happens to have lots of money. It's fiction - pure fiction! Hi Madilyn!
Sort of, Hi Lee!
Hi Chrys, it's fiction, honest!
I love this idea Yolanda! 100 words requires us to be so much more creative than usual! Your story reminds me a short story Maya Angelou wrote. There was a man in her life (non-fictional) who told her, "I've Come to Collect You." I hate the idea of it, but I love that line!
As a Canadian I'm a little surprised how much I enjoyed this, but why? The guy is all over our television screens. Which might have something to do with it. LOL. Great writing.
Yikes! Now that's a story. Way to pack a bang into so few words.
What an explosive story. And told in so few words. Money is power, that's for sure.
She died free. Sad, but positive.
Which is the lesser of the two evils?
Him or Her that you can see or what
hides under ones bed in the dark?
I’m not saying which but when the smoke
Is clear stand up and say God I was wrong.
As for what was written nice job
A story in so few words.
A very interesting ending Yolanda. Unfulfilled dreams never met because the protagonist dies. From another angle, the preservation of self ends with departure from the world as we now it.
Very good. The story drew me in.
Shalom,
Patricia
