The Ghosts of Aquinnah
Character Interview
Character Interview
What is your name?
Hannah Forrester
What do you look like?
I’m biracial and have light brown skin, brown curly hair, and large brown eyes. I’m tall and slender and people have told me I could have been a model, but I don’t know if I agree with that.
Where do you live?
I live in Boston, Massachusetts now. I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Boston when I got accepted to Harvard. I used to spend summers on Martha’s Vineyard with my parents when I was a kid.
What has been the most important event in your life?
Until recently I would have said the death of my parents. They died in a car accident three years ago. But now I’m thinking the first time I saw a really unusual woman on a Martha’s Vineyard webcam might end up being the answer.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I guess graduating from Harvard. Honestly I don’t think I’ve achieved all that much.
Have you ever been in love?
I thought I was, but I realize now I was just kidding myself. But I think I may be in love now.
Who is the person you respect the most? Despise the most?
I respected my parents. I was lucky to have them as they were wonderful people. I despise my ex-boyfriend Jon.
What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
I want to be a writer.
Blurb:
A brilliant flash of light transcends through time.
Another
freezes a cloaked figure within a frame of salty mist as waves crash
against a rocky shore. Her harrowing expression shadows the beacon to a
pinprick.
By the next blaze, she is gone. Only the lighthouse remains.
Hannah’s
eyes blink in step with each heartbeat. Images of her deceased parents
and Martha’s Vineyard explode like firecrackers inside her mind.
She shakes her head.
For weeks this eerie woman dressed in nineteenth century garb has been haunting my webcam, but tonight she stared into my soul.
Why? ...
Who is she? ...
Casting aside months of research on historic lighthouses, Hannah drives to the coast and boards a ferry.
What is the strange connection she has to this mysterious woman suspended in time?
Hannah finds out.
But, it’s not at all what she expects...
Hannah unravels a century old murder.
Author Bio:
Julie Flanders is a novelist and freelance writer in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She has a life-long love affair with the ocean and has spent more summer
vacations than she can count on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. When
not writing, Julie can be found playing with her pets, reading, cheering
on her favorite sports teams, and watching too much television. The
Ghosts of Aquinnah is Julie’s second novel. Her debut novel Polar Night
was released in February, 2013 by Ink Smith Publishing.

Sounds like there will be some healing of Hannah in the story.
And congratulations, Gary!
Great character interview. Very intriguing. My favorite movie with ghosts is the Sixth Sense. Scared the crap out of me.
Yay for Gary!! And thanks so much again for hosting me today, Yolanda. And for suggesting the giveaway, I really appreciate it!
@Alex, very likely. Thanks!
@TB, I love the Sixth Sense too! I never saw the twist coming at all. Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the interview.
Fun interview with Hannah. Sounds like an excellent book. I love ghosts and also enjoyed Sixth Sense.
Congrats to Gary! That was a lovely interview with Hannah. I don't like her ex-boyfriend at all either!
Ghost can be grand to read across the land, great character interview
@Jo, yay for another ghosts fan. I just love ghost stories. Thanks!
@Christine, yeah, he's awful. :D
@Pat, thanks!
What a fantastic and fun interview! Loving the tour, Julie ;)
What a great interview, Yolanda! I love how relatable Hannah is- makes me more than willing to take the journey with her.
Loved that interview. :)
Re ghost stories? I see them. Have done since I was around 6 yrs old. Not all the time though. I don't walk around seeing dead people or anything. And I suppose you might put this foible down to sleep disorders or tricks of light or vivid imagination or a million other things. What do I know ? :) To me, I've seen around twenty, and had a few odd situations besides. All of them equally intriguing and alarming.

It's so nice to see this book all over the blogosphere! And it's a good thing you didn't marry your ex-boyfriend!
You got me wondering about that Marth's Vineyard woman now!
Does Silent Hill count? Great character interview!
I really enjoyed "Hannah's" interview! My fav ghost story is "Ghost." That's a great movie. :-)
Great interview!
I'm a huge fan of horror/ghost movies (recently saw Insidious 2 - very scary!) but I'd say that my parent's haunted house is hands down the best story b/c it's true!
What a fun interview -- and I wish I had seen a ghost at some point in my life, but I haven't. But my sister saw a theater ghost once -- does that count? And I loved the movies Ghost and Sixth Sense, but The Conjuring scared the *@!! out of me.
Haven't seen The Conjuring; but loved Ghost and Sixth Sense. I've had a couple ghosts in my homes, mostly they were harmless. One, however, had a very angry feel, and we never felt safe with him around, although nothing more weird than icky feelings ever happened.
Hi Julie and Yolanda. Have a great holiday season.
......dhole
Love ghost stories. Here is a link to a post I did on the topic: http://benzeknees.wordpress.com/2013/10/24/ghosts-of-my-past-part-1/ Would love to win a free book!
Hi Yolanda and Julie,
A very clever angle to the interview. Very kind of you to feature Julie on here. And the generosity is duly noted. And yay to me for winning. Stiltskins is the way, I say. And I'm delving into your story, Yolanda
I really enjoyed this. I may have seen physical evidence of a ghost one and it was witnessed by my entire family.
A most peaceful weekend to you.
Gary :)
Loving this interview! I already want to learn more about Hannah. That's so sad about her parents, though. Aww. :(
Slightly late running round commenting, due to a busy weekend, but I did pick up a ghost story of sorts in the library book sale on Friday: Louise Arnold's 'A Good Day for Haunting' (I loved her 'The Invisible Friend', although I haven't read the middle book 'The Ghost School' yet).
Thank you, Julie for being my guest this 'Tis More Blessed post! I wish you all the best with your newest release! Love Polar Night, and look forward to reading this one.
The drawing is now closed and I'm very proud to announce that the winner is Jo from the blog Jo On Food, My Travels and a Scent of Chocolate! Congratulations Jo. Just give me your email address and I'll send you an eBook copy. Do you prefer Kindle / Nook / or a PDF version?
Thanks, SK!
Oh, that's really interesting! And kind of alarming too, yikes. So glad you enjoyed the interview, thanks!
I'm so glad to read that, Bev, thanks!
Definitely a good thing, thanks!
Thanks, Maurice! I'm so glad it got your interest. :)
I forgot about Ghost! That is a great one.
Thanks, Milo. And thanks again for hosting these great giveaways.
I'd love to know more about your parents' house!
Thanks, Donna. I hope you have a great holiday too.
The theater ghost sounds really cool but also scary. Thanks, Helena!
Congrats on your victory, Gary. Yay! :)
Thanks, benze, I will check that out. I love ghost stories of all kinds. :)
Thanks, Heather, I'm so glad you are interested in learning more about her.
That sounds like a good book, Stevie, I'm going to have to check that series out. I haven't heard of that author before. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you again for hosting me, Yolanda!! It was a lot of fun.
Truly, this article is really one of the very best in the history of articles. I am a antique ’Article’ collector and I sometimes read some new articles if I find them interesting. And I found this one pretty fascinating and it should go into my collection. Very good work! fax online easy
