IWSG - PHONES

Question: Have you ever slipped any of your personal information into your characters, either by accident or on purpose?

Sarah, one of the main characters in my murder trilogy, hates telephones. I hate phones. It took me years to get a cell phone, but I am now free from the landline.

Although I have the least technical of the models. I’ll upgrade one day soon, maybe.

Yes, this is the phone on my wall. It's now art!

My experiences, the characteristics of family, friends, and strangers all make up the characters of my stories. A little fact, a lot of fiction, and loads of research make the story!

Well and succinctly said, Yolanda! I agree, by the way. Happy writing in October.

I'm not crazy about phones. Hate making phone calls. I think that all stemmed from when I worked at UPS and had to call people and tell them their packages were lost, damaged, destroyed - we don't know where they are!

haha a phone as art and that is it. Not much of a fan of phones, good when crap happens, other than that, meh.

Signed up and ready to go too at the WEP Show.

We may be related. I don't like phones either. The idea of having one with me at all times just makes me shudder--and then I had kids. Sigh. So I had to get one to be available for emergencies. It's a flip phone, not a smart phone. I lose it, I let the batteries run out, yeah, I'm just not a phone fan.

It was forever before I got a cell phone. Now I love it.

While I'm rather addicted to my smart phone, I hate having to talk on the phone. I much prefer to email or text. And the only reason I have a landline now is because my cell phone doesn't always work in my house. But maybe I should get rid of it...that would definitely reduce the chances of my having to talk on the phone at all. :)

Trust me, as soon as you upgrade your phone, you'll never want to go back. It happened to me.

Love the old phone. I used to work for the phone company up here years ago and love all the old sets. I really like how you phrased: A little fact, a lot of fiction, and loads of research make the story! I think it's true for character building as well.

I dislike phones too!! And I despise seeing people on their cells 24/7.

I think it's almost impossible for writer's not to put a little bit of themselves and others into our stories.

Love your phone art, Renee. So nifty. So much history in that one little red thing on your wall.
I still don't have a cell phone. I don't feel the need, but everyone else got one. Maybe I should too. Just to be part of the crowd. I dislike sticking out.

I don't mind phones, I just hate talking on them! LOL! Email and even text are much preferred. The older I get, the worse I get. Great post!

That is a cool phone on your wall. I was happy when I turned down the volume of the ring on our land line phones and like to let calls go to the answer machine. Now we just have one landline and cell phones. The cell phone are good for emergencies, when the car breaks down.

I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with my phone. I have two phones. One personal, and one for work. Yuck.

Those old rotary phones are beautiful I their simplicity. I got rid of my landline years ago too. At the time it was scary but everyone that needs to get a hold of me knows who they are.

Most of our house phones would be considered "art," too. I have one in my office that's from the late '20s or so. It still works, but we ended up disconnecting it because it draws too much current, which made it impossible for anyone to join a conversation from another phone in the house. I STILL don't have a cellphone... and don't want one. :)
