SEANCE
Candlelight
flickers
a few novices
snicker
flowers offer
comfort
a reminder of summer
the medium
enters
takes a seat
at the center
no smile is
offered
even after
mine is proffered
Halloween she
says
a night of
spirit play
will their
presence
be an answer
to prayer
or will you
all become
their prey.
Muahahaha!

What a choice!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue. Wanted it to be fun. Hoping all is well with you!
DeleteDon't mess with the spirits! Cool Halloween poem!
ReplyDeleteNope, not a good idea! Hey, Nila!!!
DeleteI don't do seances for the same reason I don't do ouija boards: Never knock on a door that may hide entities waiting for an invitation ... to dinner. Fun poem.
ReplyDeleteLOL I don't do those either, or visit graveyards at night. I made the mistake of doing that once and got the fright of my life. Never ever gamble against the spirits.
DeleteBecome prey - funny!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex!
DeleteLove it! So spooky but whimsical.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane!
DeleteOoh, you tickled all the creepy spots Renee! Go you Queen of Creepiness!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise!
DeleteHaha. Nice one, Renee. I like the hint of humour, horror and warning, all in one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonia!
DeleteThat is a terrifying pumpkin, with its glowing eyes. Seances are not for the faint of heart.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think so. To me, too scary!
DeleteHi Yolanda - quelle horreur - not nice ... don't enter a room when there's a non-welcoming woman ... well done - mine will be up soon - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilary, looking forward to yours!
DeleteBecoming prey? That's exactly what I'd be concerned about. Good job.
ReplyDeleteExactly, thanks Lee!
DeleteThis poem made me smile . . . loved that last line. Oh, those trusting souls who venture out on Halloween Eve!
ReplyDeleteTrust no one on Halloween! LOL thanks Beth!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteA very engaging take on the prompt. I had to laugh because it is light and spooky.
All the best.
Shalom shalom
Just what it's meant to be! Thanks Pat!
DeleteA fitting poem for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christopher!
DeleteYour poem lets me know quite effectively to avoid that fortune teller! Perfect for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteFor sure, thanks Beth!
DeleteI do believe in ghosts, I've even seen a few and been more annoyed than scared. But I have never looked for them at a seance. And an Oujia board has never worked for me.
ReplyDeleteI've seen my share too, but would never admit it out loud! LOL Hey Donna!
DeleteVery fun and whimsical. Bravo.
